It’s Art First period, which means Art Fair, White nights and plenty of art-related events! So here is my white city with a tropical twist. And you should go there tonight, Alva Noto worths the pain, any kind of pain.

Some months ago I started a little stop motion video using Photoshop animation window, a really simple sequence, just to try it. It took me a while to finish it since I worked on it in my spare time without any pressure, and also because I could not decide what to do with the soundtrack. Eventually I went for a Clap your Hands track, Sunshine and Clouds and Everything Proud, which doesn’t fit perfectlly, but well, is fine.

I’m stuck at home with my left hand injuried, but still life gives me reasons to hold on. And with life I mean the internet. And with internet I mean Acasovideo.

Domani sera invece c’è la mostra del Calendisco, con tutti i lavori del calendisco e anche il calendisco che si può ascoltare in cuffia. qui. Io com’è noto ho fatto l’illiustrazione di Aprile per Lo Stato Sociale.
Martedì sera invece ci sarà una piccola mostra del Kamasutrino che ho fatto per Teiera da Osvaldo in via del Pratello 96/A. Siateci pure lì. Si faranno anche acquisti.

It’s been a while, so let’s try to update this blog properly – no trashbaccano.
- Visioni di Cody’s Gritole is out – or is about to come out, music labels timing always confuses me, you have previws, prelistenings, press office requests, I never know when an album is officially out – however I did the artwork.
- Kuš! Female secrets issue is also out – here you can buy it – it contains lots of worthy artists – I mean really, not just because I’m supposed to say it – and well, Kuš! will also have an exhibition in next BilBOlbul, which is gonna be awsome by the way. (I wish I did also the .gif down here, but I didn’t)
I worked on a female sterotype – hairdressing – and did a serie of three images in which the traditional values connected with this activity are denied, making it look ambiguos and somehow disturbing.
- I did the artwork for Lo Stato Sociale’s Turisti della Democrazia, produced by Garrincha Dischi, and I also did the illustration for the guys’ track in Garrincha’s Calendisco. Due to the timing and press office requests I talked about above, the promotional image you see on the web is not the definitive cover – it’s similar, but it’s not this one:
Since this part is in English if you’re reading this you’ll probabilly find it difficult to understand the Calendisco thing: it’s a Calendalbum – so a calendar album – this means that you have 12 great Italian indie groups performing 12 tracks named as the months of the year and originally performed buy other Italian bands. And you also have 12 illustrators drawing for the project.
- Some months ago I was asked to take part in a project for kids organized by Più Libri Junior in collaboration with Minimondi and part of Rome book fair. Me and other four illustrators (Giulia Sagramola, Jon Carling, Mafalda Laezza, Cristian Grossi) had to do an illustration about food, and the children of the schools in Rome were invited to write a story starting from our illustrations. In the end the five winning stories and our illustrations were collected in a book designed by Christian Grossi at Kreativehouse (and I must say he did a great job with it, he asked us to work with two pantone colors and printed it on this brownish paper, thet feels a lot like the papaer you use to wrap bread, he really meanged the whole thing really well). - I didn’t realize it but me too I took part in Sweet Sheets at Zelle Arte Contemporanea in Palermo. It was kinda a cabinet d’amateur displaying works on paper by all of us Italian illustrators/graphic designers/artists. I was there with the Kamasutrino I did for Teiera.
- And this is my interview with Teiera, in which Giulia and Cristina reveal the new, I became the third Teiera!
- I also started a collaboration with Bologna club Locomotiv, but I will write about is later.

E’ da un po’ che non posto per bene, da persone seria, quindi facciamolo questo riassunto (compostamente, senza trashbaccano):
- le immagini le vedete su nella parte in inglese -
- E’ uscito – o uscirà a breve (faccio sempre confusione con le tempistiche delle etichette discografiche, fra le preview e gli uffici stampa che vogliono le cose molto prima non riesco mai a capire qual’è la data ufficiale di uscita del disco – Gritole dei Visioni di Cody, per cui ho fatto l’artwork. E’ un disco di Appennino e di galline.
- Anche la Female Secrets issue di Kuš! è uscita, e contiene i lavori di gente molto molto brava – e non lo dico per promozione, è proprio così – Fra l’altro Kuš! avrà anche una mostra nel prossimo BilBOlbul, e io non vedo l’ora, sarà tutto stupendo già so.
Comunque per quanto riguarda il mio contributo, ho lavorato su uno stereotipo della femminillità – il farsi i capilli – creando una serie di tre immagini in cui questa azione viene privata completamente dei sui valori tradizionali, rendendola ambigua in qualche modo disturbante.
- Anche Turisti della Democrazia de Lo Stato Sociale è in uscita per Garrincha Dischi. Io ho fatto l’artwork per l’album, e l’illustrazione per il pezzo dei fanciulli nel Calendisco di Garrincha, che è un calendario-dischi, in cui 12 indi-artisti italiani interpretano pezzi intitolati coi nomi dei mesi dell’anno originariamente interpretati da altri 12 artisti italiani. Il tutto con 12 illustratori a fare i disegni. Olè.
- Qualche mese fa mi è stato chiesto di creare un’illustrazione sul tema del cibo per un concorso rivolto ai bambini delle scuole romane organizzato da Più Libri Junior in collaborazione con Minimondi. Ai bambin stato chiesto di inventare una storia partendo dalla mia immagine e da quelle degli altri quattro illustartori che hanno preso parte al progetto (Giulia Sagramola, Jon Carling, Mafalda Laezza, Cristian Grossi). Le storie vincitrici del concorso e le nostre immagini sono poi state raccolte in un libro, la cui grafica è stata fatta da Christian Grossi per Kreativehouse . (e devo dire che ha fatto un’ottimo lavoro, innanzitutto ci ha chiesto di lavorare con due colori pantone e poi ha stampato il tutto su questa carta che ricorda molto quella che viene usata per incartare il pane. Ottima gestione del progetto insomma). Per le info e una .gif del libro sfogliato, qui.
- Non avevo realizzato, ma c’ero anch’io nella mostra Sweet Sheets a Zelle Arte Contemporanea. Nello specifico c’era il mio Kamasutrino per Teiera.
- L’intervista con Teiera. In cui viene svelata la novità, ovvero che sono la terza teiera!
- Ho anche iniziato a colaborare col Locomotiv di Bologna, ma ne parlerò più avanti.

La globalizzazione è quando tu da San Lazzaro di Savena e il tuo alter ego canadese potete guardarvi nello stesso momento la neve scendere sul pezzo di un gruppo speed punk giapponese.
(Per chi non se n’è accorto, su youtube, nella maggior parte dei video è comparsa l’impostazione “fiocco di neve”, che fa schendere la neve sullo schermo. Perchè è inverno, fa freddo, nevica e ci sono le feste.)

About Paris in general: Port Saint-Denis in the X arrondissement is now one of my favourite places in the world. (This may change when I’ll get robbed and raped in the toilet of an afro haidresser). But really, I mean…really.

Anyway, you will see it very soon, it’s been screenprinted by Andrea alone this time (we didn’t manage organizing a proper printing session) in red and blue and it contains blurry shaped women and red threads! Prints will be on sale, also.

A Parigi dal 2 al 5 dicembre (in occasione del Salon du livre) ci sarà una mostra collettiva di illustratrice italiane – e io sono una delle – si chiamerà Notre Fil Rouge, che è anche il tema attorno al quale ognuna di noi ha lavorato per fare il pezzo in mostra.
Se siete a Parigi il 2 dicembre alle 18.00 potete uscire dalla fiera e infilarvi direttamente in un posticino lì vicino che si chiama De Fil en Café e venire a vedere il tutto:

Nessuna delle altre illustratrici ha ancora mostrato il propio lavoro, quindi non lo faccio neanche io, però sappiate che è stato stampato in serigrafia da Andrea in blu e rosso e che ci sono donne con le coscie sformate e fili rossi.
E abbracci a Francesca che ha avuto voglia di organizzare e curare il tutto nonostante avesse l’intera vita da riassettare in un nuovo Paese.
